Website Inspiration

Inspiration 1 - Danny Cooke

I have been attending lessons on how to make a website for the past month and now feel I am able to create a website from scratch using Adobe Muse. In my proposal I was inspired by Danny Cooke's website with small clips of film shown as the background. This inspired me to make a short collage of my film to give the viewer an instant insight into my fashion film. I like how the writing is white because it contrasts against the darker background. The website layout is very simplistic, ensuring the film footage in the background is the main focus and nothing distracts from it.

(Cooke, 2017).

When you scroll down on the website's front page a collage of images appear and each of the images take you to a different page. When the mouse hovers over each image a small amount of text reveals what that page would be about. I like how clear this visual contents page is, with images representing each topic.
(Cooke, 2017).

I was very inspired by the home page of Danny Cooke's website; however I found the pages within the website too simplistic and plain. All the backgrounds are white, with very little text and an image across the top like a banner. I don't like that the text was layered over the image because it looked slightly messy and unclear. I found these pages visually disappointing and uninspiring; this highlighted the importance of my website layout to grab and hold the viewer's attention.

Inspiration 2 - Paul Bates

Paul Bates' homepage was very similar to Danny Cooke's; however you can't scroll down to anything and so the contents is just along the top. I think website viewers naturally want to scroll down to investigate and so I want to give them the option to navigate my website through the collage of images of the bar along the top. In Paul Bates' 'Contact' page I like that the banner at the top, with the contents, is kept white and then the image is underneath because the text is clear to read and the crisp white makes the website look more professional and uncluttered. I like that the image used is from behind the scenes because it gives the viewer an insight into the making of the film, making it feel more personal. The image fades into black, forming a plain background for the text to show up.

The viewer has the option to fill in the form to contact the owner or an email address and phone number is given to contact them directly. I would personally prefer to email the person directly to ensure they received it; however I also understand that filling out the form may be quicker and easier, so I will give both options.

(Bates, 2017).

I am currently focusing on organising my creative team and the production of my educational/fashion film, so I will start to create my website at a later date.
